Hi @paprikabox,
I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.
Do you mean sticky sidebars as floating sidebar?
Could you please tell me exactly what you want to achieve using sticky sidebars so that i can help you to achieve it?
Kind Regards,
WPMU DEVHi @paprikabox,
Hope you’re well today! We haven’t heard back from you but I suspect you’re looking to have a floating widget, which Custom Sidebars wouldn’t provide itself.
Perhaps the following plugin will sort that for you though!
http://wordpress.org/plugins/q2w3-fixed-widget/Hope you have a fantastic day! π
Cheers,
DavidHi,
Sorry, I didn’t see your posts !
I will try the plugin and let you know.
Thanks a lot.
Cheers
paprikaboxHi @paprikabox,
Thank you for your reply.
You will find more descriptive information about usage of the plugin “Q2W3 Fixed Widget (Sticky Widget” on the following pages.

WPMU DEVHi,
I’ve tried Q2W3-fixed-widget but it doesn’t work for me : my widget search-bar is modified and some widgets move and overlap.
May be, It would be better to have a floating sidebar and not floating widgets.
Isn’t it possible to get floating some sidebars ceated with your plugin ? May be un piece of code to be inserted somewhere ?
Thanks.
Cheers
paprikaboxHi @paprikabox,
Could you please share us the site link and tell us exactly which sidebar you want to float so that we can help you to achieve this?
Regards,
Vinod DalviFor example, here :
http://www.ludikecole.fr/la-malle-a-jeux-cp-ce1/Hi @paprikabox,
To make the sidebar as a floating sidebar on the page http://www.ludikecole.fr/la-malle-a-jeux-cp-ce1 just add the following CSS code in the style.css file of your child theme or add it in your site using the following plugin.
http://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css
body.page #sidebar { position: fixed; top: 45%; right: 10%; }
Best Regards,
WPMU DEVHi,
Your solution works, thanks.
But is it possible to define the floating position of the sidebar regard to the Container and not the page to avoid that it overtakes on the header or the footer whith some browsers ?
Thanks.
paprikaboxHi @paprikabox,
I didn’t find overtaking it on my browser.
Could you please share me the screenshot of it so that i can fix it?
For screenshots, you can simply provide a link to an image through Google Drive, Dropbox, screencast.com, http://imgur.com/ or other image service. π
You can also use the solution posted in the following reply to develop more dynamic scrolling effect.

Regards,
WPMU DEVHi,
I think that you can see overtaking on your browser with another page :

Thanks
paprikaboxHi @paprikabox,
Thanks for sharing the page link.
I can see it’s overlapping with the footer but you can fix this by using the solution posted on the following links.

http://jsfiddle.net/adamb/F4BmP/Cheers,
Vinod DalviI don’t understand the solution posted on this links. Sorry.
But, finaly, I’ve fixed the problem withbody.page #sidebar { position: fixed; top: 42%; right: 10%; }
instead of
body.page #sidebar { position: fixed; top: 45%; right: 10%; }
Thanks.
Best regards.
paprikaboxHi @paprikabox,
Awesome, really glad that sorted it for you then! Just needed a slight value adjustment for the top position, then?
Good to see that worked for you and thanks for letting us know. π
Cheers!
I am interested that you suggest using the Q2W3 Fixed Widget plugin with Custom Sidebars, because when I tried it all my Custom Sidebars stopped showing! I just wanted to have a few Custom Sidebars be fixed, to help with the navigation of long pages.
If your experience is that Q2W3 works with Custom Sidebars, is there something specific I should know about that might be preventing it working? I looked in the Q2W3 support, but I don’t see this issue there.
It seems like such a simple thing, wanting a custom floating sidebar, but finding a solution just isn’t happening π
Thank you!
