  • Hello!

If the domain is registered at GoDaddy, then you need to change the Name Servers – http://support.hostgator.com/articles/hosting-guide/lets-get-started/dns-name-servers/how-do-i-change-my-dns-or-name-servers

You could also ask HostGator to change them for you, just to be sure they’re changed properly.

After you’ve changed them, it can take up to 48 hours until the NS are fully propagated. In that time, it’s useless to try and set up WordPress on your domain because it won’t work or won’t work properly.

    Thank you Broseph

I just want to provide you with 2 more elements that i forgot to montione before.

    – When i tried to link my godaddy domain with the hostgator, i changed the default nameservers with the hostgator ones ( as usal ), but also i changed the default godaddy IP adresss (DNS zone file) by the hostgator IP (found in the cpanel). IS this IP changing could be some how the source of the problem ?

    – Also when i access the ” MySQL database ” in the Cpanel, and under ” Current Databases ” i see : Your account is not associated with any databases.

I hope that these 2 elements give more details.

And thank you again for your answers.

    You’re welcome!

Don’t think changing the IP was necessary. You should have changed the DNS alone. If I were you, I’d put the old IP back, as it was.

As for the Your account is not associated with any databases – this appears because the DNS weren’t fully propagated.

I really apreciate your help Broseph

    – How can i reset the old IP ?

    – If i add a new database, could this solve the problem ?

    – If not can i say that changing the nameservers as you already told me is the ultimate solution for my problem ?

    Thank you again 🙂

There is no problem. You just need to wait for the NS to propagate, which can take up to 48 hours. This is a process we all go through when having a domain registered somewhere else.

Uninstall WordPress with Quickinstall, if you still have it installed. Install it after you’ve waited long enough for the NS to propagate.

As for the IP, isn’t there way a to add the old one back, just like you added the new one? You could contact the GoDaddy support and let them know. They should solve this; it’s safer that way.
