I screwed my site up by using a plugin called Above the fold optimization which has a feature to Generate Critical CSS. So since I now have nothing but a “white” screen, I assume that feature f–k up my css. I have a backup that’s a few weeks old, so I’ve done some work, but the css has not changed. Can I restore just the css from a backup.

    Hi Bob,

A white screen indicates a PHP error on the server; CSS is stylistic information for a browser, so can’t cause that. If you edit your wp-config.php and change WP_DEBUG from false to true, then instead of a white screen, you should get a PHP error message to help indicate the cause.

Thanks, but as it turns out, the plugin changes the CSS for the then active theme. Since I had a child theme, I just deleted the child and all is right with the world again…. except … I cannot save a site that is larger than 900mb. Up to 900 and it seems to work. After that- “fail”.

    But that’s for another post.
