• Hi,

I’ve just updated to 3.6 and now, when looking at my posts, all German Umlaute (ä,ü etc) have been replaced with strange looking characters. Strangely enough, this is only happening when reading the posts, when editing them, all is fine and well.

Has anyone any suggestions what this might be?

    Thanks,
    Arnold

  • Hi,

same here! Happend to me as well after updating to 3.6.

–> SOLVED by changing from ISO to <meta charset=”UTF-8″>

@ceotron: It is impolite to interrupt another poster’s ongoing thread with a question of your own. It causes significant problems for the forum’s volunteers and prevents us from being able to track issues by topic. Please post your own topic.

    @esmi: already edited my post.

i hope this solution also works for warhonowicz.

    Hi ceotron,

    where do I change that?

    Thanks,
    Arnold

    Hi warhonowicz,

you can change the setting in the “header.php” PHP file of the WordPress template – if there is something else set, change the charset meta.

for example: in the Twenty Thirteen Template the Meta Tag has the following setting:
    <meta charset=”<?php bloginfo( ‘charset’ ); ?>”>

    Hi Patrick,

unfortunately that did not help … neither in the template I normally use nor when I switched to TwentyThirteen … tried in FF, Chrome and IE

no idea why, but after installing the latest nextgen gallery update it all works fine again.
