Genesis Testimonials and Autoptimize (Slider not working)

    Hey guys, terrific plugin, I installed it onto this site a number of years ago, along with Autoptimise. Clients reached out to me recently to report that the Testimonials Slider is no longer displaying as a slider, but as a list of testimonials instead. They can’t remember when it stopped working. The original site was built on WP 5.2, and the slider still works on my archived dev site. Their Live Site is running WP 5.6 and it’s clearly broken.

    The issue appears to be related to the Autoptimize plugin.

    1. Updating to WP 5.8 does not resolve the issue.
    2. Deactivating Autoptimize allows the slider to resume as normal.
    3. In Autoptimize, unchecking the option, “Aggregate all linked JS-files to have them non-render blocking” allows the slider to operate as normal.

    The console shows the following errors when the slider is broken –

    • Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined at lightslider.min.jsver=0c4dcf57b7db5e45278350a7ed8c4920:1

• Uncaught ReferenceError: $ is not defined at (index):56

• Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined at (index):56

    Any ideas?

    – WP 5.8.1
    – Genesis 3.3.5
    – Autoptimise 2.9.2
    – Genesis Testimonials Slider 1.6

    I wish I had an answer, Paul. I’m just here to +1 the issue. I’m using LiteSpeed Cache and not Autoptimise, but am getting a list of testimonials and no slider. On my Customize screen it does show as a slider, so I’m guessing its a JS setting issue as well.

    Hopefully someone responds, but it doesn’t look too active lately.
