Is it possible to generate from a local site at all? We would prefer to work on our site from a local server and then run a sync afterwards, however it seems it needs external access for some reason. We are using https://localwp.com/ if that matters.

    Hey @pedrotski,

Simply Static works great with LocalWP (we even recommend it over Mamp or XAMP).

The only thing required for Simply Static to work with LocalWP is a valid SSL certificate (at least for some features).

Take a look at Simply Static -> Diagnostics and fix any error flags you see (like an unwritable temporary directory, for example).

It diagnostics says it’s ok except it says the local ip address is invalid. Fresh windows 10.

Further testing. 2 Windows machines (Windows 10). 1 is a fresh installation. Both have the same issue. Both tests are with the default WordPress installs from LocalWP, with SSL. Both have the same problem.

Tested with the latest Chrome browser.

An error occurred: cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 30009 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

After a restart on the original install, it now shows everything as green in Diagnostics.

Update: Swapping from nginx to Apache solved the problem.
