  • When you move, use a migration plugin, which will ask you the new domain name and change all references of the old to the new as it exports the data.

    Without a migration plugin it can be quite annoying. But if you do the following, this helps make it a little less painful.

    In PHPMyAdmin:

    1. UPDATE wp_options SET option_value = ‘http://www.livesiteurl.com’ WHERE option_name =’siteurl’;
    2. UPDATE wp_options SET option_value = ‘http://www.livesiteurl.com’ WHERE option_name =’home’;
    3. UPDATE wp_posts SET post_content = REPLACE(post_content, ‘localhost/test/’, ‘www.yourlivesite.com/’);
    4. I also like to re-save permalinks as an extra safeguard – Login to WP-ADMIN Dashboard and got to Settings -> Permalinks and hit Save

    Thank you @joyously and @whitsey! I’ll definitely go the plugin route. I already had All-In-One WP Migration activated – I used it’s export/import to move my site from it’s local location to it’s temporary domain. I didnt realize it had URL Update capabilities! Thanks again.
