I would like to know what cookie “GDPR Cookie Consent” itself stores in order to remember the visitor’s consent, and also when the expiry is. This belongs to my overview of cookies I am making.

Hi @clemens3636,

The plugin stores the user preference in a cookie named viewed_cookie_policy and sets the value yes/no. The duration of viewed_cookie_policy is 365 days. It will automatically be deleted after one year. The cookie will be reset when the user accepts or rejects again from the website.

Thank you, @webtoffee. That’s what I like to know. So I must not take the name of the cookie literally. It does not register that the policy page was opened. Right?

It is not just applicable to the privacy policy page. It saves the preference of the user across the entire site.

I already did. Isn’t it a problem that you store a cookie if the visitor does not want to store a cookie?

This cookie does not store any sensitive information except yes/no value and there is no other way to save the user preference.
