# GDPR issue with subscribe

 * We have an issue with emails going out to users before they confirm their subscription,
   this doesn’t sound compliant.
 * Is there a fix for this?

 * The way it works is that when a pending comments is approved (by a moderator/
   editor/admin) and it has an unconfirmed subscription associated with that comment,
   it will automatically get confirmed.
 * Is that maybe what’s happening? Did those subscribers (for which you noticed 
   the issue) have a pending comment which you then approved?
 * And thinking about it, maybe we should get rid of that automatic confirmation
   when a pending comment gets approved. But let me know if that explains the problem,
   so we know if there’s something else that needs to be looked at.

 * Hello, sorry for the late response!
 * What you describe in the first two paragraphs of your reply above seems to explain
   the behaviour we are seeing. It still feels wrong to receive an email when I 
   haven’t clicked ‘Please confirm your request by clicking on this link:’ on the
   original email. Probably not critical though, since they can then decide to unsubscribe
   if they want to.
