    Hi

    Just reading your advice on GDPR compliance and the article refers to the following:

    Always ask for explicit consent to transfer data to MailChimp
    This means always asking your visitors before sending their data to MailChimp, while not pre-checking the sign-up checkboxes that our plugin provides.

    However, I can’t find the sign-up checkbox option on my form – could you direct me on where to find it?
    Many thanks
    Susie

    Hi Susie,

    The checkboxes refer to the sign-up checkboxes you can add to other forms on your site through the integrations listed under MailChimp for WP > Integrations.

    For forms, I recommend adding the following HTML to your form to explicitly ask for consent.

    <p>
    	<label><input type="checkbox" name="GDPR_CONSENT" value="1" required> I agree to have my personal information transferred to MailChimp.</label>
    </p>

    Hope that helps!

    Hi there, does this new checkbox tie in with the new fields MailChimp has added to their system allowing you to add GDPR fields to their sign up forms?

    Or is it completely unrelated to their GDPR fields?

    Sorry if I’ve missed something somewhere – I have read your GDPR compliance post in the knowledge base and am trying to get my head round how it works / integrates with MailChimp in respect of GDPR and gaining consent.

    I’m wondering the same thing. Is there any update on this?

    The information would need to be added to the user’s entry in Mailchimp, just like their name and email address are.

    Same question. Some update on this?

    Hello, It seems like MailChimp has added marketing_permissions to its API. Are we going to be able to add this field to our forms soon?

    I’ve added the above code to the forms my MC2WP generates; I was unable to custom create a Merge field with the full length of “GDPR_CONSENT” – so I’m assuming that this field is in the back end of MC.

    I am going to run a reengagement campaign very soon for my entire list, and I’m going to ask them to update their list preferences and check the GDPR boxes.

    But I share people’s frustrations that the customized form from MC offers very little customization of its own (that Euro star file-folder graphic blows up to the size of a screen when you’re on mobile, for example) and that it can’t be passed through any other kind of code than hosted on MC’s server, it seems.
