• Hello, WordPress released a new GDPR-compliant update 4.9.6 yesterday and I noticed that the new check boxes for people who want to leave a comment are not showing on my site.
Some other bloggers are reporting the same issue in Facebook groups. Some seem to have the new checkboxes and some others – don’t.
Does anybody have an idea where the problem could be? I checked with my theme developers (X-theme) and they seem to have no clue (nor did they hear about the new GDPR-compliant checkboxes for comments yet).

    Thanks a lot.
    Jurga

@t-p Thank you for more info. It seems that this update screwed up so many functions on my site… So much not working… 🙁
What do you mean by ‘it shows up for me’?

@t-p On your own site you mean? I asked people to look at my site and they aren’t there…
I’ve asked my theme developers more info and sent them the links you guys provided here. So hopefully they’ll find a solution…
It seems that several functions of my site aren’t functioning properly after this update, not just the check boxes.

The link I included in my previous reply states:

By default, WordPress automatically displays the new checkbox field discussed above. However, if a theme is passing the fields argument to the comment_form() function, the field will not display and needs to be added to the list of fields.

Your developer should be able to resolve it. It’s not that difficult.

    Side note to @amourdecuisine,

Please do not jump into other topics. If the troubleshooting already posted made no difference for you, then, as per the Forum Welcome, please post your own topic. A lot more people will see your post this way. That way you stand a good chance of getting the assistance you want. Despite any similarity in symptoms, your issue is likely to be completely different because of possible differences in physical servers, accounts, hosts, plugins, theme, configurations, etc. Thus one problem, on one setup is not indicative of the functionality and reliability of an application as a whole.
