Gather Theme Seems to Cause Very Long Load Times

Greetings,

I am using the “Gather” theme to create a website, and soon after starting the work, I noticed that pages were taking an EXTREMELY long time to load. I contacted Hostmonster to inquire. The help desk associate I spoke with said that the site seemed to constantly access the database. He also suggested turning off all plugins to see if that made a difference… I plan on doing that and then adding them back into the mix one-at-a-time in an effort to find the offending plugin.

Lastly, he suggested that the Gather theme code may be causing the problem. I don’t know enough to make that assessment but I would welcome input from those who are qualified. Can the theme code be checked and or debugged if it is the problem?

Has anyone else who used “Gather” had a similar experience–that is load times of 90 seconds, sometimes longer, when saving, previewing changes or moving about in the dashboard?s If so, please share any solutions that worked for you.
