[Resolved] Gateway Homepage

  • TLDR: What is the URL I can put into an HTML link that will link to my blog posts if it is not my front page anymore.

I have setup a simple WordPress blog, however I also run a small business (VERY small, just me), I don’t need a big website for my business, I just want a single page. Here’s my dilemma, I have made two extra pages (the business page and another page called Gateway). When a user enters the URL to my site, until now they would be taken straight to my latest blog posts. Instead, I would like the user to be directed to my gateway page where the must select a link to either the business page OR my blog, I have already found in “Reading” in Settings where you can select what the front page displays but I dont know how to link to the blog posts (as far as I can tell, they dont actually have a “page” as such as the content is dynamic).

A follow up question: how do I remove the comments box on my Gateway page altogther? I have disabled comments but now I just have a big box saying “Comments disabled”.

  • you’re on the right track
assign the page you want to be static front
    dashboard – settings – reading

now create a new page tiled “Blog” or whatever
assign this as your posts page
    dashboard – settings – reading
if your theme has a navbar the “Blog” page will auto be added as a link

AH! Now I see what that setting does, I was so close! Thanks very much.

Bumping for my final question: how do I remove the comments box on my Gateway page altogther? I have disabled comments but now I just have a big box saying “Comments disabled”.

    what theme?
    or a link to site?

I am using Piano Black 2.2 by mono-lab. Found it in the WP gallery

open the theme’s page.php and remove or comment out this code
    <?php if (function_exists('wp_list_comments')) { comments_template('', true); } else { comments_template(); } ?>
    near the bottom

    always back up 1st

Thank you very much again, it worked!
