Gallery, type: slideshow — HTML stripped out

  • So I’m using [gallery type="slideshow" link="post" ids="1,2,3"] to create a slideshow of three images. For each image in the Media Library, I have caption information that contains HTML (links, bold, italics, etc).

When the slideshow displays on my post, the HTML gets ripped out. However, if I tile it and view it in carousel form (thanks Jetpack), all the HTML is retained and rendered properly.

I was expecting the same treatment with the caption info while using the slideshow option but that’s not the case.

Bug? Or is that by design? Seems like it should behave the same…

  • Good to see your post on this – I have been trying to resolve the same issue. It seems a shame to not have this functionality built in.

Also, it would be nice to be able to determine the size of the slideshow frame.
