Gallery Topic on files

Thanks for the question (there are no stupid questions or users).

The default [mla_gallery] display will show the item’s Caption below the thumbnail/icon. You can add a parameter, mla_caption, to your shortcode to display anything you need there. I suggest something like:

[mla_gallery size=icon post_mime_type=application/pdf link="file" mla_caption="{+base_file+}"]
