Gallery pictures do not open in lightbox but new window all of a sudden

    Hello,

    I am experiencing the following problem since a couple of weeks. All of a sudden the “lightbox” does not work anymore and each photo is displayed in a separate browser window which is very uncomfortable for the occasional viewer.

    I have the latest version of WP v4.2.1 and NextGen Gallery 2.0.79 install.

    Any idea how to track down the reason for that? Already tried all the things mentioned here without success: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/galleries-opening-lightbox/

    I also tried this suggestion
    “In case you have Lightbox Colorbox Plus or compatible, change the “What effect would you like to us?” dropdown menu to ‘Custom’ and then put:

    However nothing changes in the behaviour.

    In past articles it was mentioed to “Show advanced settings” and check the URLs of some js and css files. However I cannot seem to find this “Show advanced settings” button?

    I now deactivated all plugins and re-opened the article. Now of course the “[nggallery id=xxx] tag is not replaced and shown in plain.

    Then I reactivated NextGen Gallery.

    When I refreshed the page and clicked a thumbnail it showed the popup for a second, but it automatically went away and afterwards the thumbnail gallery was removed and it was only shown

    After I tried the various “lightbox” options in the NextGen settings only this text appeared, but I didn’t manage anymore to reshow the popup for a second.

    I also tried re-enabling the Lightbox Colorbox Plus plugin, but it did not change anything. Any ideas?
