@appetyte – This is something that has never been reported before … can you share the domain address so we can take a look at this?
Thanks!
– Cais.
@appetyte – Thanks for the link … I see that the preview image is being displayed rather than the gallery which generally indicates a conflict with another plugin or the theme. Have you tried checking to see if that is the case?
Also make sure to clear your caches while you are testing the plugins and theme … I would suggest clearing your caches first then deactivating WP Super Cache to save you that step after each plugin. Then reactivating WP Super Cache last (although we have not seen any recent issues with the plugin itself).
Thanks!
– Cais.
As stated in my original post, there are NO other plugins active and WP Super Cache is already deactivated.
If caching were responsible, surely this would be server-side?
Why does the plugin work on all machines behind an outward-facing IP Address that was last used to access the plugin?
The plug-in must test for particular condition(s) in order to display properly.
If those conditions are not met it displays the ‘preview’ image. Otherwise, logic would dictate that all would fail and the preview image would not be presented.
After extensive testing on machines across the UK, the ONLY common behaviour we are seeing is that the plug-in works on machines with the same outward-facing IP Address that was last used to update the plug-in via WordPress Admin.
I repeat my question: why is the plug-in failing based on the IP Address of a visitor’s machine?
@appetyte – This is a very unique issue and one we have no other reports on … but as to the preview image being displayed, it is essentially just a standard <img>
tag with a few extra parameters used as pointers to the actually gallery/album to be displayed.
I cannot say why there appears to be a relevance to the IP address as we do not have anything that checks for specific references in that sense.
As it is, I just visited the site and all appears to be working fine, are you still seeing this issue?
– Cais.
I’ve made no changes, so if it is now working in your browser it has done so spontaneously!! How many images you are seeing?
Unfortunately, if I can’t get a handle on what happens in order for the plugin to fail and show the preview, I have no place from which to start looking for an external/environmental cause.
Real shame, when it’s working it’s fabulous.
@appetyte – I’m seeing 39 images in the gallery … of a very pretty model as well 😉
– Cais.
Yep, that’s exactly right, full gallery is 39. (Will pass on your compliments 😉 )
I’ve created a clean install of WordPress 3.8.1 with NextGen 2.0.40 on a different host at isabelle.appetyte.co.uk to see if it is an environment issue. So far so good.
Thank you for such swift responses and feedback – I’ll confirm results later today!
– Gavin
@appetyte – Thanks … and definitely let us know if this happens again.
