# Gallery Issues – caching?

 * Hi folks,
 * I mentioned elsewhere I had big issues trying out the latest versions of Nextgen
   Gallery in my **staging** site. So i did not touch my live site which was working
   perfectly. It is on 4.02. I did update few other plugins, but nothing that should
   have affected my galleries. WPStaging, for example.
 * I clear my browser cache. Go to my galleries. I click one and it may load or
   take quite some time to load. I click my back link above the images or the slider
   image to return to galleries and open another. May open or may take a very long
   time to open. As if it is first caching all images. It never did this before.
 * What can i try to fix this?
 * Thanks!

 * OK, found the culprit. Not yet the solution.
   This plugin: Disabled Source, Disabled
   Right Click and Content Protection, has conflict with either WordPress 6.9.4
   and/or NextGen Gallery 4.02. NextGen 4.20 had other issues, but now I may try
   that again.Galleries hang/timeout progressively (3rd or 4th gallery I try to
   open)Problem disappears completely when plugin above is deactivatedTested across
   multiple plugin versions including 1.6.4 to 1.71 for DSDRCCP which claims WP
   6.9 compatibility from 1.64 onAll browsers affectedSo, if any assistance. would
   be appreciated.

 * OK, without the DSDRCCP plugin NextGen works perfectly. SO I tried NG 4.20 again.
   It has onlt one small issue I can see, but a deal breaker cosmetically. This
   is how I look in 4.02
   [https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/ep14mtbespm5jkiihtg6b/nextgen-2.jpg?rlkey=0mnzvcw5b6og8w323ez2ggu4j&st=jcwo0wxx&dl=0](https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/ep14mtbespm5jkiihtg6b/nextgen-2.jpg?rlkey=0mnzvcw5b6og8w323ez2ggu4j&st=jcwo0wxx&dl=0)
 * This is how I look in 4.20:
 * [https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/rbk8dgnb08ltvrg1f6zhj/NextGen-4.20.jpg?rlkey=i3xqxpydlkj8yb2rg3521uiwu&st=c82k60lr&dl=0](https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/rbk8dgnb08ltvrg1f6zhj/NextGen-4.20.jpg?rlkey=i3xqxpydlkj8yb2rg3521uiwu&st=c82k60lr&dl=0)
 * How can I fix that? I have changed no settings. Thanks.

 * I actually tried 4.20 again. Found where to change actual image thumbnails, but
   not gallery thumbnails. I’d really like to stay current but this as shown about
   just does not work aesthetically. Is there any where I can change those sizes
   to the same I see in 4,02?
 * Thanks.

 * OK then. I guess I am stuck with 4.02 forever.

 * Hi [@rebop](https://wordpress.org/support/users/rebop/) ,
 * Sorry for the delayed response.
 * To set custom dimensions for your thumbnails, go to** “Imagely > Galleries”**
   select the gallery you need, then navigate to the** “Customize”** tab. Ensure**“
   Thumbnails”** is selected, and toggle on the** “Override thumbnail settings” **
   checkbox. You can then enter your desired width and height dimensions.
 * [@camiltulcan](https://wordpress.org/support/users/camiltulcan/) , if you’re
   encountering a conflict with legacy settings, try temporarily activating them.
   Your URL should look like: [https://www.mywebsite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=imagely-settings&tab=hidden](https://www.mywebsite.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=imagely-settings&tab=hidden).
   Toggle the button, refresh the page, and then click **“Save Options”** without
   any changes. This should enable you to adjust options in the new UI.
 * Best regards,
   Mihai

 * Thanks. But why did this change in 4.20? You do realize i am talking about ALBUM
   thumbnails, not gallery, yes? Do you know what the default for those were before
   the change? Those were perfect as my images show.
 * I’ll take a look at this when I have a little time.

 * Hi [@rebop](https://wordpress.org/support/users/rebop/) ,
 * It’s quite odd that there were changes in image sizes during the update from
   NextGEN Gallery 3.x to 4.x, as no such changes were intended.
 * Since you mentioned the issue affects albums, could you tell me how you added
   the album to the page? It would be helpful to know if you used NextGEN Gallery,
   Imagely blocks, or shortcodes. If you used a shortcode, please provide it so
   we can check its parameters.
 * It might be possible that default thumbnail settings were changed during the
   update, although we’re not aware of this being a widespread issue. I apologize
   for any trouble this has caused.
 * For the Compact Album, you can adjust the thumbnail sizes by editing the album
   under **“Imagely > Albums”**. Navigate to the **“Settings”** tab and toggle on
   the **“Override thumbnail settings”** checkbox to enter your custom thumbnail
   size.
 * I hope this helps.
 * Best regards,
   Mihai

 * Thanks. My images above are **4.0.2** and **4.2.0 **. I think it changed with
   4.1.1 but not positive. I changed NOTHING other than the update. No shortcode,
   etc. NO changes.
 * If I try to adjust the Album Thumbnail sizes, what is the default in 4.0.2 so
   I can try to match?
 * I’ll do some testing. Thanks.

 * I tried 4.2.1 tonight. Same issue. Tried to change the ALBUM thumbnail size and
   it did not work. No change in “visiting site” from WordPress in my staging site.
   Tried 240×160 and still small as shown in my link above.

 * [@mceban](https://wordpress.org/support/users/mceban/) I had my guru take a look
   and it appears the default album thumbnail size in 4.0.2 is 186×124 and in 4,2.0
   and 4.2.1 it is 96×68! Overriding produces a slightly larger thumbnail, but not
   what it was previously nor what is desired.
 * We think it is an issue in the releases. Can you check please?

 * Can anyone please address this issue? I would hate to have to find another gallery
   and redo all the work I put into my current one.
 * Would be greatly appreciated. And I do think this is a bug that has not been
   widely reported.

 * Hi [@rebop](https://wordpress.org/support/users/rebop/),
 * After thoroughly reviewing the code, comparing versions 4.0.2 with 4.2.x, I can
   confirm that this issue is not caused by a regression from the update. The relevant
   code remains consistent across these versions.
 * The situation is likely as follows: your live site (4.0.2) has the “Override
   thumbnail settings” enabled for the album, using your custom dimensions, ensuring
   correct display. However, your staging site lacks this override, defaulting to
   96×68px, a legacy fallback size used since NGG 3.x when no override is set.
 * Here’s how to fix it:
    1. On your staging site, go to** Imagely > Albums**, open the album, and navigate
       to the **Settings **tab.
    2. Enable** “Override thumbnail settings” **and enter your desired dimensions—check
       your live site under the same tab for reference.
    3. Save the settings and clear any page cache. The thumbnails will regenerate automatically
       on the next page load, so bulk regeneration isn’t necessary.
 * For future staging setups, I recommend copying your live database to staging
   to ensure all your display settings transfer correctly.
 * Please let me know if this helps
 *
   Thanks.Mihai

 * Thanks. Do note, up to and including 4.0.2 I have never had to make that change.
   It always kept my settings.
 * 4.21 is throwing LOTS of errors when working in the module.
