You’ve already fixed this version of the plugin for me via email! I’m trying to work with my theme author to make this plugin compatible with their theme. Thanks so much for that, one other question:
Is it possible to display in 3 columns rather than 4?

P.S. Regarding 4 columns, yes you can! Simply go to your portfolio or gallery settings section and increase the size of “Approximate tile width” option (e.g. set 350px instead 300px, or more). Please check this and keep us posted about your progress.
