Support » Plugin: Gutenberg » Gallery image sizes

I tried to build a gallery with Gutenberg. The gallery should display the images like thumbnails (in my theme this is 150px x 150 px). This is quite easy with the Classic Editor where you can choose the image size of the gallery items.
But with Gutenberg it is not possible to change the images size. The gallery is displayed with the full image just scaled to fit the content. Why is ist not possible to set a size like in the Classic Editor?

Unfortunately the gallery feature is not useful anymore. Have I missed something? How can i change the image size?

Another point with the full size image: Users/clients tend to upload very large images, so there are images in the gallery which are some MB large. Why is WordPress/Gutenberg building galleries with such large images?

    Gutenberg is really really frustrating.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Marius,

thank you for your answer. I hope you will find a solution soon, at best before the launch of WP 4.9.8 because I think Gutenberg will otherwise destroy existing galleries and this will result in frustrated users….

Any updates on this? It has been a few months already…
