Support » Fixing WordPress » Gallery – Hacking the Core

  • For some reason the WP gallery feature adds a bunch of CSS that isn’t in the theme, so you can only assume the WordPress programmers want you to hack the core. I did find this really backwards way of adding a bunch of programming code to remove these few lines of CSS

but that still doesn’t remove all of it, no matter what there is this huge gap between each row of images, and Firebug is saying it has some “computed height.”

Is there a way of fixing this?

  • Unless you post a link to your site, no way for anyone to answer your question at all…

What would one specific site have to do with this problem?

    Hey alanchrishughes,

Always a good idea to post the site having the issue. Helps the people trying to help understand and visualize the error. Plus, recommended by WordPress in the welcome post to attach a link to the site having the issue.

I would also request seeing the site. This will help me rule out the possiblilty of a theme CSS issue. I for one NEVER recommend core hacks due to the instability it can cause and the issue with updating WordPress later.

Post a link to the page with the issue. I’ll firebug it also and give whatever assistance I can. 🙂

There is no site yet, just testing and no CSS of my own at all, it is just a general problem with WordPress itself and built in CSS in the core.

But that link above randomly started working, so I guess I’m good to go. Thanks.
