# Gallery carousel doesn't launch – please help

 * I installed gallery carousel without jetpack and followed the steps to create
   my gallery and published it. But when I go to my website the images are just 
   thumbnails. When I click on the thumbnails, instead of launching the slideshow,
   it just goes to a blank website page.

 * The plugin is enabled as well as the carousel setting in the media settings. 
   I tried a few other slideshow plugins (image carousel, gallery lightbox, soliloquy)
   to see if it was the plugin but no carousel or slider plugins will do the actual
   slideshow. I also tried loading my website through different internet browsers
   and that made no difference.
 * I am very new to this and am unfamiliar with typical website coding (or even 
   where to put the code) so any of the troubleshooting I find in Google ends up
   being over my head. Is there anyone who could run a few ideas past a simpleton
   like me? After hours of trying to figure out why the last portion of the plugin
   just won’t work, I am at a complete loss. I’m not looking for anything fancy,
   just a simple slideshow.

 * When you create a WP gallery make sure the **Link To** is set to image file.

 * Also, another way to create a WP gallery is to use WP Gallery shortcode, this
   method is really useful when you upload images attached to post(or page) directly.
 * Suppose we create a post and when in that post editing screen, upload images 
   into WP, all those images will technically attached to (or belong to) this post.
 * Then in the post content just put this in.

       [gallery link="file"]
       ```
   
 * and WP will create a gallery of, in this case, 3 columns which is default.

 * Thank you for your response.
 * I am not just wanting a gallery. I already have a simple 3 column gallery. I 
   want a slider or carousel of that gallery. Even though I’ve installed several
   plugins that are supposed to create a slideshow, that is the function that is
   not working.
 * For gallery carousel without jetpack the Link To is supposed to be set to Attachment
   Page as is indicated in it’s demo video. There are three overall options, Attachment
   page, media file and none. I tried the media file but if that option is selected,
   when you go to the page and click on the picture, it just brings up a larger 
   picture with no slideshow arrows and you have to back out to get back to the 
   website.

 * Try disabling all plugins except this one, and see if the problem persists. If
   it’s still not working, post this question again but this time post it in plugin’s
   own forum, link here
