Support » Fixing WordPress » Gallery block and Masonry broken since 5.9

  • With the latest WordPress update (5.9), galleries cannot be displayed in multiple columns. Even if you put the correct option, only shows you one column. Masonry totally broken.

  • The Gallery uses a flexbox to create the effect. It sets the width of each image depending on the number of columns. I have used it several times since the update to 5.9 and it seems to work fine. Can you provide an example? Without seeing the problem trouble shouting becomes difficult.

    Here a example:

For some reason, the styling for the wp-gallery is changed. I’m not sure where it coming from. Your gallery display is set to block and not flex. The default style for the gallery is to display the images as flex, not blocks.

This could be coming from your theme or from a plugin. If you are using an FSE theme the configurations can be overridden in the theme.json file. This could also be done with a plugin. Not sure what to tell you. You might want to disable your plugins to see if the problem goes away.

Also, you may want to mention that some of your images contain nudity when asking for help. It might cause some people problems if they are in a work environment and access your site.
