    1. do you recall what you did immediately before this problem?

    2. What theme are using?

    3. Have discussed this issue with your hosting provider?

I have struggled for months now trying to fix this problem

    What exactly have you tried?

You are going to need to provide more info:

I agree with Tara. We will need more information to diagnose problems. you can make sure if your photos are still there by going to the uploads folder using your ftp clients such as filezilla. But there are a sleuth of possible caused, which includes migration problems, plugin problems, to database problems. Please provide details and site url.

    Hi guys
I have had this site for a year + now. What I do recall is updating a plug in and somebody contacted me saying my photos had disappeared from my site. I have had the same theme from the start so that is not the problem. I have been to different people that deal with websites as I am not that good with this sort of thing and they did find all my photos with my host provider still. I did try to upload the photos back onto my site but my whole gallery has gone. How do I get my gallery back is it possible to upload a gallery plug in or can I reboot my whole site. Please try and make this simple because computer jargon is not my best side.

I hope this helps you guys.
    Thanks for the help
    Cheers

It looks like you’re using NextGen Gallery to show photo galleries on your site — however it appears that the plugin is not active.

In your dashboard, go to Plugins – Installed Plugins. This should give you the list of all plugins that are installed on your site, active or not.

Check to see if the plugin NextGen Gallery is in the list and if it’s actually active (it should have a link “Deactivate” right under it).

If you can’t find that plugin in the list, it was removed somehow and you’d need to install it again.

If the plugin is in the list but it has the link “Activate” under it (and not “Deactivate”) then it’s just not active and clicking that “Activate” link should help.

    Hi Mark
There is no NextGen Gallery plugin on my list. Now how do I install it again. I feel we are getting to the end of my problems.
    Thanks for your help

    – Check that anti-hotlinking of images isn’t enabled in your hosting account. If it is, try disabling it.
    – check your uploads path in Dashboard > Settings > Media, make sure it’s not pointing to a different path . . . normally this would be blank.
    – confirm that the wp-content/uploads directory and those files exist.
    – Try changing the permissions on the wp-content directory to 766. If you still have problems, try 767, 775 or 777.
Once your uploads are working, change the permissions on wp-content back to 755 again (very important for security reasons!) and check that everything still works OK
