Did you go through Google’s requirements for alcoholic beverages? They are pretty strict on it: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6150139?hl=en
As far as I know the age group field is mandatory for apparel categories, not alcohol. See: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6324463?hl=en

I’ve done deep dive analysis and could see that the account is not set up as suggested by my colleague in my previous response.
As per the article : https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/6150139?hl=en, items which are alcohol related should setup Adult Age group attribute in the feed level or account should be enabled with Adult or use correct alcohol product cataloger like addressed in the initial email.
However, neither of them are setup on the account. To Promote alcohol, you need to set up the above mentioned setup to promote alcohol products.
As the product is ‘Beer’, the suggested Google Product Category is 414 i.e. Food, Beverages & Tobacco > Beverages > Alcoholic Beverages > Beer should have been applied to the product.
This is the reason the account is suspended, please check the entire feed and make sure the Adult attribute and correct alcohol attribute is given to the item to avoid such issues further.

Thanks for the prompt response… what value would you suggest I use the Value field if g:adult is in the shopping attribute field…
I tried to add a custom field as per their suggestion g:age_group – but the plug in refused to accept it
Sorry – found the age_group option and added that as a field – used “adult” as the static value – I’ll let you know if that works in terms of population something for Google to see in the feed….
Well…. the feed gives no error related to that field – but neither is that showing anywhere in the product information in merchant center…. I am at something of a loss… I have to wait for the cooling off period to finish again on the 8th and then resubmit with no clear idea of whether anything I’ve done is what the want.
Frankly, their CS is so disappointing…
Yes, you are correct. Google is very strict on selling alcoholic beverages in Google Shopping. Did you reach out to their support and received clear instructions on what changes you need to make?
I copied their response above… what confuses me is that it says :

All the products have the correct category identifier, i.e. 414 for the beers, etc
In reality since these are “or” statements, they shouldn’t need anything else.
I would, however, like to cover the bases and would like to know what value (and how, static?) to add in the value field for the g:age_group field….

Just to be on the safe side I would replace their “OR’s” with “AND’s”. So for the category mapping you did good and I think for the field mapping for g:age_group too. This is what the mapping should look like (indeed use the static value to fill in the adult):

Now you also need to do this with your merchant account itself: “If your website is generally focused on an adult audience and contains adult-oriented content with or without nudity, navigate to to your Merchant Center account, open General Settings, and check the box next to “This site contains adult products as defined by our policy.” If you check the box, you don’t need to submit the adult attribute for individual products.”
When you did all of the above you should pass their requirements I would believe.

Ha ha ha the belt and braces approach! Let’s cover ALL the bases and see what happens – I have implemented all your recommendations and on the 8th once the latest cooldown period is over I will resubmit for review – I really appreciate your help with this and am left wondering why five different Google reps couldn’t do in six weeks what you did in a morning…. actually, I’ve had a lot of dealings with Google and whilst I might wonder, I am not surprised 😉
