Hi, yes indeed when these options are active uploadpath option is ignored, because WordPress requires files in Media Library to exist in a specific folder.
Regarding the problem with filenames, do you have an example?

ok, thanx, i’m still learning wp’s excentricities;-}
re: filenames…i have a large(6.5mb) image with the normal IMG_nnnn.JPG filename, but when i select it in wpfu, it gets munged to B8D33486-B096-4052-8E63-52DAD29652C0.jpeg and stored as a 1.2mb
B8D33486-B096-4052-8E63-52DAD29652C0-scaled.jpeg, and the original file is not saved:-\
maybe another wp excentricity, but certainly not a show-stopper, just an annoyance…
i’ve added the same image directly to the media library and it doesn’t get munged or the original disapear, so it looks like ur code has issues:-{
turns out it’s an ios problem…uploading any file munges the filename:-\
