Future posting date stamp and sitemap.xml

  • nicholasclarke

The other night I used the feature on WordPress that lets you set the published datetime in the future. This is great as it lets you stack/plan your posts.

I then checked out my sitemap.xml and noticed that the lastmod date stamp was from when I saved it and not when I set it to publish. I guess this makes sense as it is a last modified date, but in the future post situation my date stamps were all backwards.

I wrote the post at: 9:21pm
Published at 1:30am the next morning
In sitemap.xml the lastmod was 9:21pm

Not sure if this is correct or how is will affect the Google stats.

Do you think this is correct?
