Funny characters on 404’s

    I’m having problems with national characters on a theme project of mine, but just on 404’s (no matter if I have a 404.php or not). The funny thing is that the funny characters appear all over the 404 page, in sidebar as well as footers and so on. However, when surfing the blog (non-404’s) everything is fine.

    I’m using UTF-8 and have tried to change the doctype (I know you shouldn’t) without any effect. I’ve tried it on one of my servers, and still experience the same problem – but other sites are not.

    I’m confused. Any ideas?
