    Hi,

    I need to put my functions.php into child theme, but when I copy it and move it into my child-theme, the site breaks.

    How do I do this?

    Thanks.

    don’t copy the full functions.php from the parent theme into the child theme;
    just add any changes into a new functions.php on the child theme, like filters, actions, pluggable functions…

    what exactly are you trying to change?

    what theme are you using?

    Hi

    I’m using Renad from theme forest.

    I’m changing a piece of php in the functions file. How do I put a change instead of a completely new piece of code in the child theme?

    It’s not about the theme though? It’s a universal thing to edit the functions.php in all free/paid themes surely.

    yes – and it is also universal not to copy the full functions.php from the parent theme into the child theme.

    but what you edit and how depends on the theme.
