Installation was a snap, and adding new sites took no time at all.

However, when I press Sync Data, a drop-in window shows Pending for each site, and then does nothing. I waited two hours. Nada.

Same effect when pressing Upgrade All on one plugin’s updates from the Dashboard.

In addition, the dropdown menu shows partial names for topics. It’s difficult to tell what some might be since they’re named “Sites”, “Sites Help”, “Sites” and “Sites” (for example). Sites Open and Sites Restore bring up empty pages.

Backups are not working either. Yesterday, I set the window aside for a few hours, and when I returned, the backup had no progress in the drop-in menu bar, and wasn’t already made.

Browser: Safari on OS X Yosemite.
The site itself is relatively new and the install has been sitting rather empty for a few months. Should I start a new site entirely?

    Appreciate any help!

It does sound like you are having many issues we haven’t seen brought up before from any of our other users.

Since these are some strange issues, I’m not even sure going through trouble shooting steps would be effective, it may be better for us to just jump right in and take a look at what is going on.

Please go to the official support portal at http://support.mainwp.com/ and click on Create a New Ticket. Once you do that click on Signup or Login and then supply the following so we can see what is happening.

We found that there appears to be a conflict with the WP Jump Menu Plugin.

Once that plugin was disabled we were able to Sync all sites and also performed an upgrade for all for the out of dated Plugins.

    – and Ozh Admin Dropdown Menu plugin as well. Both are disabled, and updates are running. Backups, however, are still not being performed. They’re stalling out. Nevertheless, it’s a big improvement over yesterday’s status of almost nothing working!

I’m completely ok staying with my existing backup program; is there a way to just disable that functionality in MainWP?

Once I disabled your conflicting plugins everything was running fine and as I noted in your ticket #1299, about 14 hours ago, I tested two your sites and they both backed up without an issues and I haven’t heard different from you.

If you don’t want to use the Backup function in MainWP you don’t need to disable it, just don’t schedule backups to run and don’t run them manually.

What you choose to use for your Backups is not forced by the MainWP plugin it is an option available to you, you are welcome to use any solution you want.

However if you are having issues, and want help, I welcome you to reply to ticket #1299 since I have no way of knowing if you are having additional issues if you don’t let me know.
