• I run a charity web site, and I want to create a page where we show a list of items for auction, which members can bid for, but I do not wish to have any purchase option; only email notification when bids are made.
When an item passes its expiry date, I will manually close each auction and payment will not be done through the web site.

Does the free version of this plugin allow this functionality?

    Thanks

  • Hi.
I have successfully run three auction with the free version and found it to be excellent for my purpose. There are a couple of things you should be aware of:
    * You will want to select the option to allow bid without logging in.
    * As admin you will get copies of bids made. However there is no option to turn off email to winners when the auction expires.
    * The good news is you can customize the email to say how you want to be paid as well as how to pick up the item.
    * For some reason the admin did not get copies of emails to winners. I found the plugin, Post SMTP Mailer, to help with that. It keeps a log of emails going out and has a feature to resend the email if it gets lost.
    * I did have problems with it affecting the system time for other plugins and had to comment out a line of the code. But that’s another subject.

I recommend you try it out. It does give most of the function you are lookin for.

Thanks @jeff41 for your response and it is great to know that our plugin has helped you.

    Hi @hashah3 ,

What Jeff has answered is correct and you would need to customize the “Winner Email” so that it does not contain the paypal link.

Let us know if you have any questions or want to know how to customize the email.

    Many thanks Nitesh.
I will install the Plugin and have a play.
Will post any issues I have on this thread.

I have come across an issue.
When I installed the plugin, I said I was OK with promoting your plugin, and when I am in Manage Auctions, I see your text “Thank you for creating with WordPress” in the middle of the table of auctions, and this stops the Edit button, on the right, for the auction on that line from working.

How can I remove this “Thank …….” message?

    An additional question.

I am the member of a club, as the Web Site Admin, I am posting a number of Auctions.
When I look at the Auction item, I get the error message “Sorry you cannot bid on your own item”
As a member I should be allowed to bid, plus I need to bid to test the system.

    Any guidance please?
