I’m trying to build a shopping cart integrated with a WordPress installation.
Posts essentially double as products, I’ve gotten a far as being able to insert ‘orders’ into a new tmpcart table in the WordPress database, a product id, and sessionid – by having the ‘add to cart’ form buton post to a php file ‘outside’ the blog to do the inserts and other modifications.
my problem is(make that ‘one of my problems are’), coming back to browse further the only way I’ve been able to show the content of the cart in the blog (in template sidebar) is by passing the session id through the url into e.g the theme’s index page – in order to have something to filter the tmpcart table with – which makes the url look like s..t – and is probably as bad-coding as is possible, dunno I’m still very novice at this :- (
no, I have no idea what the hell I’m doing but hey…
and I’m sure there is a better way to do this… any helpful kind spirits out here want to point me in sensible directions?
building it at http://www.davidkrutpublishing/dkp/
(it only shows on the index.php , not archives etc. at present
