Full-width page attributes template absent for blog

The Guide for the Lite version explains how to eliminate duplicate sidebar info by editing each page and choosing the Full Width template option in the Page Attributes dialog. However, this was curiously unavailable for the Blog page. Any clues as to why? Any workarounds?
