 * think about what 2015 would look like without the sidebar, just a bunch of posts
   without any theme title or navigation.
 * the design of the theme itself does not lend itself well to a full-page display.
   the sidebar info is really vital to the theme and would need to be displayed
   somehow on a full page display, otherwise you will lose the theme name and navigation
   menu info. when you make a full page display on any other theme, this info is
   displayed by default, all you are dropping is sidebar info.

 * i agree with pearwcz and would like a 2015 full width method if possible. all
   modern/contemporary websites are full width and personally i’ve wanted full width
   for a few years now but i’m a novice and can only do basic code modifications.
   and if you look at all the most popular themes on wordpress they are all full
   width. pearwcz has a valid point which led me here to post but he beat me to
   it and i think 100K more WP users want the same as us.
 * i am not able to make the most popular themes like Virtue to look like their
   demo. but i did make a site using Customizr to look like their demo. i and i
   think pearwcz are looking for 2015 to look like wordpress.org site which has
   4 full width sections. the middle horizontal sections are divided into 2 columns(
   which i don’t want but give us the option to make 1 to 4 columns within 1 horizontal
   section.) if found Vantage with plugin Page Builder can do this in my testing
   but i try to stay with wordpress theme for compatibility.
 * thank you for any tips!

 * You can always make a child theme and a custom template for full width –

 * Is Twenty-Fifteen a complete disaster or is it just me? All I get is a blog post
   overlapping all other content, so there’s no menu or navigation viewing on a
   computer monitor. I thought WordPress-created themes worked “out of the box.”
   This one certainly doesn’t.

 * **@priehl** – Haven’t seen any other threads about the theme not working. The
   navigation is in the sidebar on a desktop or bigger laptop screen. Have you tried
   reintalling the theme? Just delete the one you have and then reinstall it from
   the Dashboard.
 * If you need additional help, please start a new thread [here](https://wordpress.org/support/theme/twentyfifteen#postform)
   since your question is unrelated to this thread.

 * [@wpyogi](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wpyogi/) Thanks I tried reinstalling
   and it’s still a complete mess, on a large screen on any browser.
 * Sorry, I didn’t see how to navigate to Twenty Fifteen subject area.

 * [@wpyogi](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wpyogi/) – thanks for the reply.
   is your answer the final answer, i mean really the only method to achieve a full
   width, same like wordpress.org front page? cause i looked at your links, i already
   do simple child themes stuff when someone posts a few lines of css to paste in.
   i have no ability to do stuff on the Custom_Page_Template link you posted. i’m
   not complaining to you, i appreciate you giving me the facts so i don’t waste
   time looking to do something i’m not capable of! LOL!
 * 1. i would need drop down box creation from within the 2015 theme
    or (and i
   think 100K wordpress users can do this) 2. give us some code to copy into the
   child theme. a. this gives you 4 horizontal sections b. this give you identical
   to wordpress.org … then we can go in and just change the colors and text… looking
   at Custom_Page_Template i wouldn’t even know where to start so i give up! LOL!
 * ps. 2015 is a Responsive theme as is 2014 which i use on 20 sites. why aren’t
   ALL the big corporations sites i go to are NOT Responsive themes?
 * thank you!

 * **@priehl** – here: [https://wordpress.org/support/theme/twentyfifteen#postform](https://wordpress.org/support/theme/twentyfifteen#postform)
 * **[@freshwater](https://wordpress.org/support/users/freshwater/)** – it will
   be pretty complicated to create a full-width template as you’ve described for
   twentyfifteen, yes :)! That much custom work is more than is usually available
   on these forums for free, but you could probably [hire someone](http://jobs.wordpress.net/)
   to do it for you. It’s also possible that someone will make a child theme with
   that option and make it available from the themes here but no way to promise
   that.
 * But really, there are so many other great themes available so it may make more
   sense for you to find one you like – no reason you have to use twentyfifteen.

 * [@wpyogi](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wpyogi/) thank you! i just had
   some ‘conflicts’ with plugin on other themes i’ve tried so i try to stay with
   WP and 2014 was excellent but now new design is full width especially with larger
   monitors and tv’s connected to net. i could never hire anyone, i’d have to give
   up WP and i cannot because i love WP!
 * but 2 worlds are evolving, larger monitors/TVs with now cell phone use (tiny
   screens). i edited my post above and you didn’t see it so copy here.
 * ps. 2015 is a Responsive theme as is 2014 which i use on 20 sites. why aren’t
   ALL the big corporations’ sites i go to are NOT Responsive themes? why? are they
   behind? cause the WP responsive theme is perfect for large monitors/TVs and tiny
   cell phones, right?
 * pss. i don’t have one Post on any of my sites, i’m 100% Page sites.

 * LOL – yes, responsive themes/websites are definitely the way to go these days.
   And most current WP themes are nicely (functional and good-looking) responsive
   so that makes it easy for you to have a great site.
 * Certainly, I agree that if a big corporation’s site isn’t responsive, they should
   get with it!

 * Overall I like 2015, but I think I’d prefer it if the left column was little
   less wide. How can I do that? I’ve look through the css file but don’t want to
   take a chance of messing the whole thing up if I’m not absolutely sure I know
   what to modify and how.

 * Full width is a requirement. May be he wants a splash page as home page with
   jquery full width banner sliders. Below that some pics and text. Probably this
   is pearwcz requirement, same as mine. Child theme is a good option. Or may be
   through the customize option of theme 2015.
 * I am planning to make a full width page for my site [http://www.webdesignershouse.com](http://www.webdesignershouse.com)

 * Child Theme is the best. I think WordPress may start guidelines on Child Theme
   development articles in CODEX for every version of their major theme release
   like 2010,2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Just a thought. But it has heavy demand.

 * It’s a bit of a shame that the default theme doesn’t have a full-width page template.
   Every theme should have that. Think about a 1-page website or a landing page –
   they would be most likely without a sidebar.
 * Interestingly Twenty Fourteen had a full width template, I don’t see why this
   was left out from the current one. Any ideas behind the consideration or it was
   just looked over perhaps?
