    Hi,

I’ve noticed in testing the free version of this plugin that when a customer uses their points as a reward on their checkout, then the full amount of points are awarded, rather than the discounted amount.

For example, customer has only 100 points to use getting a £1.00 discount on their £1 spend, therefore making it free. They should get 0 reward points after checkout, since they’ve paid nothing (‘Spend money’ is set to 100 points / £1.00). However they are still receiving the 100 points in their account after the transaction instead which is wrong since they’ve actually spent nothing in the end.

Please can you provide a fix for this issue, as you wouldn’t by default expect points to be awarded on a free reward purchase which in effect could allow them to keep buying products for free? By the way, I’ve installed this on a fresh install of WordPress using Twenty Twenty theme, with no other plugins apart from WooCommerce and WooRewards installed (all updated to the current versions) and it’s still an issue.

    Hello,

This isn’t a bug. It’s the normal behavior of the plugin in its free version.

The option to use the cart amount after discounts is a feature of the pro version.

Sorry to quote your own plugin but it clearly states on your WordPress.org plugin page:

THE FREE VERSION OFFERS THE FOLLOWING FEATURES :
Give points when customers spend money – Set points earned for each unit of your currency spent on an order

Care to comment why you’ve clearly stated this free version will ‘Give points when customers spend money’? I’ve explained initially that points are awarded still when a customer spends no money when the points are redeemed in the checkout. This should really be fixed in the free plugin if you want people to trust your plugin I’m afraid.

You’re right, the readme text is misleading.

I’ll ask the team to add a mention in the readme text file to state that it doesn’t take discounts into account in the free version.

    We discussed with the team.
We decided that the possibility to use the amount after discount feature will be added in the free version as well.

That’s great news that you’re going to fix this issue for the free version.

Please can you let me know when this is available so I can test it?

Since it’s not a bugfix, it will be added to the next version (4.1).
We have other features we’re working on for the Pro Version so I can’t give a release date. We’ll release it when it’s ready.

I’d like to think this issue is a bug since it’s affecting the ‘Spend money’ reward system by effectively giving free points. Please can you therefore consider this a priority?

It isn’t a bug and won’t be considered as one.
The plugin worked the way it is now for the last 2 years regarding that feature.
We updated the readme file last week when we deployed version 4.0 and included a text that can be misleading.
We’ve acknowledged that and decided to add a feature in the free version that was previously reserved to Pro Customers.
It will be available in version 4.1

As I’ve said, your WordPress.org plugin page clearly states:

Give points when customers spend money – Set points earned for each unit of your currency spent on an order

Therefore it should be considered a bug, since your system is applying points on free or reduced price orders when the customer’s reward points are used.

Sorry to keep bringing this up but I was considering purchasing the pro version, however if the free version doesn’t live up to it’s clearly stated features, why should I trust the pro version to provide all of its advertised features?

As I previously said, we acknowledged there was a mistake in the text.
It’s now been fixed and the text clearly states that the discounts are not deduced from the points attribution.

Give points when customers spend money – Set points earned for money spent on orders (Discount coupons are not deduced)
