I have a customer that keeps getting blocked for not discernible reason. I checked the logs and it just says “exceeded maximum attempts” for one of the reasons, and then also “full name”. I cleared their name, email and IP from the backend several times, but subsequent attempts resulted in “full name” as the reason in the logs for them being blocked. NO idea what this means and I tripled checked that no name of theirs is even remotely similar to one existing on the list already, so I don’t know what is going on. I am using version 2.4.0 as the time of writing and noticed that there is an update out, so I am going to update now, but I already informed the customer to send us the transaction manually so I can’t restest unless something else pops up.

    Any ideas what’s going on?

    Hi @qwik3r,

Did updating to 2.4.1 solve your issue?

No, it did not. I just posted another thread that I’m having people blocked left and right with seemingly no explanation. I temporarily disabled the ‘name’ option because the way your logs are worded is that if someone is blocked and it says “full name” that perhaps it’s checking against the full name list already and blocking them. With that being said, ALL of the recent people being blocked were NOT on the list. Maybe something to messed up recently with an update and it’s looking at characters/letters spaces etc and blocking based on not reading the entire line “exactly” but parts of it, causing people to be blocked.

    Hi @qwik3r,

Maybe there is an issue on your case, I can’t pinpoint without looking into your website. I had already asked for access to your site in another thread created by you. Please create the staging site and provide the access so that I can personally look.

If you are not comfortable providing the access, then please try to debug the issue by deactivating all plugins except this and Woocommerce. It can be a compatibility issue with other plugins.

I wound up just disabling the plugina nd going a different direction. It’s the second time that this has occurred so that’s 2 times too many.
