FTPUser Not Owner on Uploads

    I’m wanting to ensure all of our sites are using the ftpuser on our Ubuntu server to upload files via wordpress. I’ve taken ownership of wp-content and set 755 permissions. The group owner is root. I have a site that keeps creating directories with www-data when attempting to upload new files.

    I want to ensure all files created in here are created with the owner of our ftpuser. We’re running several vhosts on each server we have. Any ideas where to look?
