Support » Plugin: WP Photo Album Plus » FTP Upload and import. Some questions

I upload images via FTP to my user directory in the wppa depot. The pictures are in directories, for example birds in the folder bird. After the upload there are various folders with photos that are sorted by topic in this way in my user directory in the wppa depot.

After the import, they are deleted there. In uploads/wppa I see than many photo files and in the directory wppa-source various folders named album-xx.

What happens there? Are the files in the wappa-source directory the original files? Is it possible to activate a similar directory structure in the folder wppa?

Is it possible that the original images remain in the user’s depot? And is it possible to add the username to the directories in the wppa-source folder? This would be helpful if multiple users use a WPPA + installation for a common project to simplify the overview.

Unfortunately I did not find a description in the documentation.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Are the files in the wappa-source directory the original files?

Yes, they are. If they are not correctly oriented (e,g, made by smartphone) a normal oriented copy will be created during upload/import with the extension -o1, like mypicture.jpg and mypicture-o1.jpg.

Is it possible to activate a similar directory structure in the folder wppa?

No, that is not possible. You can only convert to tree system to avoid large numbers of files in the one wppa folder. See Table VIII-A10.

Is it possible that the original images remain in the user’s depot?

Not when you import complete dir structures. This should give problems with large numbers, checking what has been done already each time the process continues, until all execution time is spent on checking instead of importing.

And is it possible to add the username to the directories in the wppa-source folder?

No. Albums and photos are not bound to users by definition; the ownership of albums and photos can be changed after upload/import.

This would be helpful if multiple users use a WPPA + installation for a common project to simplify the overview.

Photos have an owner and you can select on owner for display purposes as well as rights to modify etc.
The internal filesystem structure is private to wppa and not intented to be manipulated outside wppa, with ony one exception: the ftp upload to anybodies own depot.
