# FTP Theme Error

 * Hi all,
 * I’m new here.
 * I have accidentally delete the initial FTP files that you get when you register
   for FTP access. To make things worse i was playing around with the themes/child
   themes and now i get the following error message
 * ” Fatal error: Cannot redeclare twentyten_page_menu_args() “
 * and cannot access the dashboard at all. I have read that changing the theme file
   in FTP works but since i don’t have any in the directory that is not possible.
   The domain was created by my teacher as I am a student and don’t have access 
   to the web host site. Is there anyway to fix this or should i just start over?

 * You can fix this by editing the file directly.
    You can edit files in WordPress
   but if there is an error – wordpress wont load and hence why FTP access is required–
   to access the files directly.
 * Without FTP or CPanel access, you’re up the proverbial without a paddle…

 * Hi,
 * I have managed to get the wordpress dashboard to work again luckily(I had an 
   open browser on the themes page and was able to activate the default theme).
 * In regards to the FTP directory i deleted in filezilla, am i just able to upload
   a copy of wordpress and it should work as normal ? Being able to add themes etc.

 * That’s good.
 * In the theme that you had working before (which broke) you will get the error
   above – It should also have the specific filename and the line number of the 
   error along with that message above.
 * Make a note of that file.
 * Now you have another theme working, you can edit all other files. Go to Appearance–
   Editor and then on top right, pick the theme that is broken and then find the
   file (referenced in the error) and edit it in the window.
 * NOTE: This error is occuring because the system is trying to declare the function(
   twentyten_page_menu_args()) twice – all function names must be unique – you are
   using the same function name in 2 places (assuming that you copied an existing
   function and just didn’t rename it?)
 * Change this function name (e.g. my_twentyten_page_menu_args()) and it should 
   fix it
