# FTP host error

 * I recently migrated my website from a localhost to a private hosting. Everything
   was right until I realized it wasn’t possible to update or download new plugins.
   The error popped out everytime after I entered my server information (server,
   user and password). The error says
 * I think the problem might be because of the server security. Since is is a university
   server, access to the server is limited to certain IP. If that is the case, I
   would like to add the IP WordPress uses to access the server to this set of allowed
   IP.
 * If that makes no sense, which can the problem be?

 * Hi,
 * Why don’t you just create a backup of your site you created in the local host.
   Then install a new WordPress in your hosting server. It should be a fresh install
   WordPress. Then import the backup files you created to your new install.
 * In that way, it does not have to ask you for any IP or any server settings.

 * I think it is a good idea to do what you told me. Although I was afraid of doing
   so and losing all the work I have done on my WordPress page so far. Because of
   that, before doing so, I tried to make a backup of my page on my localhost but
   it was not possible since everytime I try to log in on my localhost, WordPress
   sends me back to the host where the actual webpage is in.
 * Since the backup to localhost didn’t go well, I would like to know if it is completely
   save to do what you told me to do. You might not understand me, there should 
   be no problem if I have a backup of my WordPress page and databasis, neverthless
   I have not the certainty I can start over again with only the backup, since I
   didn’t manage to build my WordPress on my localhost.
