• I installed the BetterDocs plugin on a clean website with no other plugins or themes, and it didn’t set up properly out of the box. Although it has great features, they are not easily customizable.

The default home page and category pages use the post-archive template, which conflicts with having a blog on the same site. There’s an option to customize the home page, but it doesn’t work; you’ll still see the post archives for both the home and category pages.

The social sharing options are limited to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Pinterest. The feedback smiley faces offer only three default options, which cannot be changed in size or icon type—only color.

    Hello @trecartin ,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced with the initial setup of the BetterDocs plugin. This is highly unusual, and we would appreciate it if you could provide more details about the issues you faced during installation. We strive to assist our users promptly and effectively, and we regret that we did not have the opportunity to address your concerns earlier. Please reach out to us here so we can investigate and resolve this matter for you.

Regarding the conflict with having a blog on the same site, this should not occur as we use different slugs. If you are using a block-based theme, the customizer may not function as expected. Instead, you can utilize our Full Site Editor (FSE) support. For more information, please refer to this documentation: https://betterdocs.co/docs/betterdocs-provides-full-site-editor-support/

We understand your concerns about the limited social sharing options. We have included the most popular platforms, but we are always open to suggestions. Please let us know which additional platforms you would like to see, and we will discuss this with our team. Additionally, you can customize the feedback smiley faces using custom CSS to better suit your needs.

Once again, we apologize for any inconvenience you have faced. We are committed to providing you with a smooth and satisfactory experience. Please do not hesitate to contact us here with any further issues or suggestions. We are here to help and look forward to resolving your concerns.

    Best regards,

Thanks for your prompt response. I appreciate your efforts to address my concerns.

Your response has validated my main issue: many customizations require CSS editing. When I say “out of the box,” I mean ease of use for non-technical users. Regarding the feedback smiley faces, I’d like the option to have only two choices or an up/down vote and be able to easily choose the icon sizes, similar to how font sizes are easily changed. As for social media, I was hoping I could extend options to Reddit, Mastodon and/or Slack. I am aware that this can be cooked in a way to make it work but it’s a lot of extra steps.

I hope this feedback helps with future versions.
