 * Hi,
    I am currently trying to create a design portfolio. But instead of displaying
   my posts on the front page, I want a welcome message. Then have the blog on a
   different page. Is there anyway to do it?

 * You can use the static page plugin for wordpress .
 * or just create a page for ur potfolio
