Support » Installing WordPress » Front Page Won't Load

  • I just installed WordPress on Bluehost ( When I go to the main domain, nothing appears. the login page for wordpress and the pages I’ve created in wordpress are working, but I want wordpress to be the main site.

If you go to to, the page loads and you are able to navigate the site.

Any ideas why the main domain might not be loading wordpress?

  • It sounds like the site was installed in your home folder. When you install it, install it directly in the root folder for and not in any other subfolders, and then it should work on directly.

Alternatively, you can try moving your site out of home and up one level, into the root directory for (The root directory is usually public_html) and then run it from there. You will need to change your WordPress URLs to the new URL(without /home) first though if you’re going to do that. These can be updated in your Settings > General area in your admin dashboard.

I did install it in the root folder though. When Bluehost asked me where to put it, I left it as without any subdirectories listed. When I look in filemanager, all the install files are in public_html…

There’s also Two “Home” pages on the nav bar even though there’s only one Home page listed in the Pages menu

My guess would be that something on your home page is throwing a fatal php error. is the default 404 page that you will see any time a page doesn’t exist within a WordPress installation. It is not actually a page titled “home”.

I would try turning on DEBUG in your wp-config.php file and see if an error comes up. That will give us a better idea of what’s going on.
