Support » Theme: Twenty Twelve » Front Page Template sidebar appears at bottom of the page

  • Hi there,

I’ve enabled a static front page, with the Front Page Template applied. In the “First Front Page Widget Area,” I’ve enabled a search box and a text widget, but these items don’t show up as a sidebar — they show up below my main text area.

Any ideas about why this might be happening? I’ve looked at the Front Page Template code in the Editor, but can’t make much sense of it (I don’t know much CSS and no php).

    Any help would be appreciated!

Unless you post a link to your site, impossible to even guess, except that you may have mark-up errors. Try validating your site:

Thanks. I’m working in a local development environment right now, but I’ll FTP it up and post a link.

what you see seems to be the intended layout of the front page template.

Wow. That helps — thanks for the heads-up! So if I wanted to create a 2-column layout with the search and text area in a sidebar, any idea how I do that? By modifying the Front Page Template php file? Or the front-sidebar.php file?
