[resolved] Front page image size customization not working (2 posts)

I have just discovered I am unable to change the size of the images on the front page using the customize feature.

I am using "single - two columns" with the following settings:

    1 column image = 400px
    2 column image = 200
    3 column image = 125 .

But no matter what values I enter, the single column image bwon't show any larger than around 200 px, and the others 100 px.

Any idea what could be causing this problem? I am using the latest version of Magazine Basic and WordPress.

I deactivated all plugins but it makes no difference.

I believe I've solved this problem, at least in part. It had to do with the way the image on my latest post (in the single column at the top) had been uploaded (by selecting from desktop and uploading).
I deleted the image and re-uploaded it using the browser uploader (dragging into browser) and it is now displaying in the larger size.

I still can't seem to change the size of the thumbnails for the posts in the two-column part.
