'Front page displays' in Reading pane not showing | WordPress.org

I am trying to set a Home static page but there is no option in the Settings/Reading to set the front page displays. I have created the pages. I have tried deactivating the plugins – none of that had any effect.

Are the pages published publicly? If you only have Private or Draft pages, the option won’t appear.

The pages are still private – not ready to go live yet. If I have to wait to when the blog is live, how do I set the home page? Sorry if the question is vague – I am new at this – first blog and not very familiar with coding of any kind.

I reckon I am asking if there is a way to publish while still keeping it private so that I can set it up the way I want it to appear when it is live.

Sure, try a plugin like https://wordpress.org/plugins/registered-users-only/ or https://wordpress.org/plugins/coming-soon-page/
