This is a great plugin. Thank you Katie for your excellent work.

What I would love would be to have a way to put the meta search + formatting box in the front end of my site, let my user select the format and references they want, and then display the formatted citations on the page for the user to copy and paste.

I don't think that is built into the current incarnation, unless I'm missing something, but I'm wondering if anyone could give me any hints for how I might make modifications to get something like that working? I have just started making minor modifications to plugins, but I'm still pretty green and am not quite sure where to start with this.

Any thoughts would be appreciated! Thank you.

Setting up the search box wouldn't be too difficult -- you could copy a lot of the code and be sure to include the relevant script files on the front end of your website. Formatting citations on the fly, however, is a bit more difficult, mostly because it's an additional request to Zotero, and so takes a number of seconds to go through (and this is not currently set up in Zotero -- if you try changing the citation style through the shortcodes, you'll see that there's a few seconds delay before the style updates on the frontend). If you're okay with that delay, you could add a loading graphic and combine the metabox search with the autoupdate style scripts. You could also per-emptively style each citation with all possible/relevant styles to avoid the delay, but this may not be ideal either. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply Katie, and especially for the pointers on formatting citations.
