 * can someone please help me … I can’t find a way to remove the link from the slideshow
   at my frontpage.

 * I would be happy to help. You can prevent the main slider’s images from triggering
   NextGen’s lightbox by choosing “Only apply to NextGEN images” in “Gallery -> 
   Other Options -> Lightbox Effects -> What must the lightbox be applied to?”

 * It looks like the theme itself adds the link for that image so you may need to
   ask the theme’s support for a workaround.
