From local server to web.

    Hello. I installed WordPress locally using MAMP for Mac.

    Anyway, I am satisfied with my site so I bought the domain and host from GoDaddy.

    I have uploaded all the files to the host. However, I get a “Error establishing database connection” message, which is expected.

    So exactly, what steps should I take to make my site run normally? I understand I could go to my GoDaddy account and create a database… but that would be a brand new database, and I would be losing my existing info and posts etc. How do I transfer my database to the online site? What other steps might I be missing?

    Did you create a database and import your data and you need edit wp-config.php with database info from Go Daddy and make note of Go Daddy does not localhost they use a url and you can get that from database info.
