I have a set of webpages already designed with the appearance I want in dw cs5. However, I need a cms (so I got wordpress) to allow the editting of info in a simpler way for the owner of the site.
I do not want to throw away my desigs in dw cs5. I have my own "index.php" file there which will serve as the homepage. There is a paragraph whose content might change upon the website owner's will. How can I convert this to a wordpress theme?

Give http://codex.wordpress.org/Theme_Development a read it'll cover, or link to anything you need to know about making a theme.

The PHP you've written with DW might need be best removed, but the html can definitely be used.
